Project Noah is a tool that nature lovers can use to explore and document local wildlife and a common technology platform that research groups can use to harness the power of citizen scientists everywhere.
Description:
I found several colonies scattered mostly near or under the vegetation. This lichen grows on soil and I believe it needs soil with a high (or certain) lime content. Though it is brown here on a warm 85-degree day during a dry spell it can vary from almost black to green when moist.
Habitat:
Found on the soil along a trail at Falcon Lake State Park. The habitat is thorn brush in the Tamaulipan bushland along the Rio Grande.
